CSU: Librarian Services

Librarian Services

The CSU Library is staffed with a group of professional librarians available to assist students with each step of their research journey (topic creation, keyword selection, resource selection, refinement, understanding, organizing, etc.). The CSU Library’s resources feature collections of articles, e-books, journals, all chosen to support the programs of study at Columbia Southern University. To better assist students in an online format there are three avenues for library instruction: phone, email and chat. Also if students are available to visit the CSU campus, a librarian would be happy to conduct a face-to-face review.

Creating a search for your chosen topic

This includes if needed: locating assignment parameters, identifying resource requirements, suggesting keywords, recommending databases, etc.

Locating E-books

For reference book materials, the librarians can assist with searching for e-books.

Selecting a Database

From broad to subject targeted databases, the librarians can provide insight and recommendations on selecting a resource.

Narrowing Your Search Results

The librarians can help refine the results by recommending alternative keywords, recommending search tips like use of quotation marks, subject headings, etc.

Finding Scholarly and/or Peer Reviewed Articles

Demystifying the topic of peer reviewed articles and empirical research.

Using your program's research guides

Highlighting the creation of librarian recommended resources by subject area. One-stop location for tips on searching for a specific subject or topic. Recommendations including databases, possible journals, tips and more.
