Fantastic Drinks

National Cocoa Day is December 13th! Share with us your favorite hot Christmas drink recipe. If hot chocolate isn't your thing, share your favorite recipe for hot apple cider, wassail, eggnog, boiled custard, or a Christmas spice tea!

My Nana's Christmas Tea

I don't have the recipe on hand, but it's a spiced Christmas tea with cranberry, orange, black tea, and cinnamon. There are several spices added to it, but I don't remember them all off hand. It's juicy, sweet, sour, pulpy, and just the best tea ever, guaranteed to stain any white surface!

Peanut Butter Hot Chocolate

In a mug, prepare hot chocolate mix as directed on package. Stir in 1 or 2 teaspoons peanut butter. Enjoy!

Apple Cider

I like to have a crock pot of cider simmering on Christmas Eve. In addition to the great taste, the smell throughout the house is amazing.

  • 8 cups (2 quarts) apple cider
  • 2 whole cinnamon sticks
  • 1 teaspoon whole cloves
  • 1 teaspoon whole allspice
  • 1 large orange sliced
  • brown sugar, to taste (optional)

Mix all ingredients and cover. Allow to warm on low for a minimum of two hours. Use a strainer to remove the spices and orange slices when ready to serve.
