Snowflake Appreciation Day

December 18th was Snowflake Appreciation Day! Did you learn about snowflakes and their cool, unique designs when you were a kid? Weren't they fascinating? Share about your favorite snow or snowflake experience.

My Nana was a lover of snow. She would also go out and play with me and my little brother. When I was in primary school, she was the first one to teach me about snow flakes. She set up a little outside lab once for us after a massive snow. It was still flurrying at the time. We had a cold metal table in the yard and some magnifying glasses for us to look at the snow flakes. Of course, she told us about all their unique designs and showed us up close what they could look like. It was a fantastic activity. I loved it a lot, and I appreciate my Nana for sharing about the natural world with us - even if it was just a fun little thing like snow flakes.

I have always enjoyed the snow. I especially love how pretty it looks when the big, fluffy snowflakes fall. Some of my favorite memories are of sledding and tubing in the winter after a few days of snowfall when the top layer is fluffy but there is plenty of snow padding underneath. :)

My Grandma Steinford let me try to save snowflakes/snow in the freezer. She gave me a cool whip container, and I had a blast. A couple of months later we dug it out and it all turned to ice, so she let me use magic markers to color it. She was the best.

My favorite snowflake memory in recent years is cutting out all those snowflakes in December 2019 when we made the library into a snow globe! ðŸ˜‚

I have fond memories of sliding down the hill on the far side of our elementary school playground during recess. One of my favorite things to do is take a walk while it's snowing. It's always magical, but especially at night when the world feels a little more quiet and peaceful. We may or may not have been known to put on boots and jackets over pajamas and take a walk. :)
